Hectic Mum To Be
So the big news in the Kilburn household and the Hectic Mum office this week is the news that I am now a Hectic Mum To Be!!! Having felt very tired for the last few months (my mum thought I was anaemic) and also putting weight on, I failed to realise exactly what was going on until the 16th person asked me if I was pregnant!! Right, I thought, I’ll take a test just to prove them wrong!!  But, I ended up proving myself wrong. Having broken the shocking but happy news to my husband I booked an appointment at the Dr’s for a second opinion! She confirmed I was pregnant and estimated I was about 16 weeks!!!
I then spent the next few days telling family and friends, and happily the response from everyone was shock at first then great joy. Screams and claps all round!  Unfortunately last week we had a bit of a scare as i had a slight bleed, but all turned out well in the end - especially as we got to have a scan at the Hospital.  Another shock was in store though - no not twins!! Turns out I was actually 23 weeks and 4 days pregnant!!!  I’d managed to get through over half the pregnancy without knowing it!!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the birth is that easy!
But the problem now is time is ticking and we’re first time parents, trying to learn everything we need to know and what we need to buy before our family of two becomes a family of three!! Fortunately there are lots of websites out there packed with good advice so I’m busy trawling through them at the moment.
The first couple of purchases I’ve had to make are Maternity clothes. Knowing how much a new addition to the family is going to cost I’m hesitant at spending a lot on clothes that I’m only going to wear for the next 3 months. I have been very fortunate in that we have a good friend who has lent me a whole Maternity wardrobe, but with the things we have planned over the next few weeks there are still some gaps in my wardrobe. I’ve decided to shop clever though - not buying dedicated maternity clothes as such but instead buying jersey pieces which will stretch to accommodate my growing bump. One of my first purchases was a fab Lipsy maxi dress which I plan to wear on our city break in Barcelona. Fits perfectly over my bump - and will look great after baby is born.
So, off I go to carry on trawelling the web for more baby information - but don’t worry I’ll be back to share it with you - and more fashion tips too!!! In the meantime if any of you have any tips to pass on about maternity wear I’d be really grateful to hear them - just add your comments after this post. Thanks!

Congratulations! WOW What a shock that is for the both of you, and bravo for getting half way through without even realising. The down side is you’ve missed out on all the moaning which you could have so got away with….i think it’s time you started milking this pregnancy for all it’s worth hehe. Regards maternity wear i love H&M it’s very resonable and they do some lovely pieces - also do fab baby clothes too. Good luck although it sounds like you won’t be needing it as your already sailing through it.
1Thanks for the message wife of bold - and don’t worry I am milking it for all its worth!! My other half is being really good and won’t let me do anything - its bliss!! Thanks for the Maternity wear tip too - i’ll head to H&M this week and have an explore. Hope you keep reading the blog - i’ll keep you updated with how the pregnancy is going!
