Celebrity baby boom

August 12, 2009 By: Liz McNamara Category: Fashion, Shopping

Every weekly magazine I pick up seems to be bursting to the brim with celebrities who are bursting to the brim with babies! Whilst reading an article in my mag about pregnant Sarah Michele Gellar (aka Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and fellow cast member Alyson Hannigan, I turn on GMTV and see that Clare Nasir, the weather girl, is also blooming.

Kate Garraway is on maternity leave, Penelope Cruz has just annouced that she’s pregnant, Nicole Richie’s little girl is becoming a big sister and Spider Man Tobey Maguire is becoming a dad - I think there must be something in the water! Not to mention our Get The Label fashion guru Louise is due in October.

I think it must be due to all the staying in with the credit crunch but apparently, after reading Celebrity Gossip, “pregancy and babies are all the rage”! Does that mean if i get pregnant next year I’m going to get “Thats sooo last season”?!

Anyway, I just thought I’d pick out some of my favourite celebrity mums and their style because we all know how tricky it can be without making yourself look like a marquee. It seems that showing off your bump is the thing to do - pregnant and proud!

I really like Sarah Michelle Gellar’s pregnancy style, its looks cool and casual but seems to always flatter her bump. Teaming worn down jeans, a casual white top (babydoll is always a good shape), cropped jacket, silver plimsoles, a big slouchy bag and simple accessories is a ideal during pregnancy.

On the other hand Clare Nasir looking stunning in this red ensemble showing that you don’t need to be a shrinking violet when you’re expecting, clothes in bright colours look great!

Celebs who have recently given birth include Kate Garraway…

Finally, Louise will soon be uploading a more indepth guide on how to dress for a baby bump but until then I found a fab little mood board on Runway Daily which highlights some great ideas for pregnant mums, taking inspiration from celebrity style.
