Happy Roald Dahl Day!
Yes Sunday 13th will be a day of nostalgia where we can look back and celebrate the genius of my favourite children’s author, Roald Dahl.
Now is the time to get the kids down to the library to stock up on boredom buster books. And while you’re there you could pick up a couple for yourself - Dahl’s The Witches still gives me the chills. Not to mention the film, that gave me nightmares for weeks!

The Roald Dahl website is worth a look, with interesting bits of news and facts about the author himself and his works. There are also some great PG games and downloads to keep the kids occupied. I’ve just been having a quick browse and found out that there is a feature film of Fantastic Mr Fox coming out - it looks great! The history of Roald’s life is also a good read - both heartwarming and very sad.

The ‘Books and Stuff’ page is very useful - have a look and feel the memories flooding back! Roald Dahl is one of the few authors I can remember from my childhood and reading the description of the books takes me right back to my younger years.
My all time favourite is definitely Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I carefully opened my bar or Dairy Milk hoping to find a golden ticket!
How about you? Are you more of a Champion of the World? Or A Twit? Or a BFG?
As well as using this day to get your kids more involved in reading Dahl’s great books, it’s also worth remembering the good work of the Roald Dahl Foundation, which offers support to families in two areas: neurology and haematology.
Have a great Roald Dahl day!
