Step Out In Style
So, new season means new wardrobe but what about your feet? Unless you’re like my dad who has one pair of sandals, and one pair of black shoes and one pair of brown shoes, chances are you’ll have shoes for different occasions and to go with different outfits. So what should you be ensuring is in your shoe wardrobe this winter?
For us girls, it’s all about the boot this winter which come in all shapes and sizes! The hot trend this winter is for biker chic, so look for boots with details on such as buckles and studs – like this pair from Rocket Dog below. I’d team these with leggings or skinny jeans, a t-shirt and of course a biker jacket – and you’ll have the look all sewn up.

Another hot trend in boots for this winter is the knee-high and over-the-knee style, the taller the better baby! Playboy have come up trumps with their Katya boot which has gorgeous patent toe detail to link in with the trend for men’s footwear styling – two trends in one boot – what more could you want?!
The shoeboot is also still popular for winter but it’s been sexed up with cut out detailing, like this pair from Firetrap below. These will look great with either trousers or skirts and you can funk them up even more by wearing some brightly coloured and/or patterned tights with them.

Talking about bright colours – although black and grey did dominate the catwalks this autumn/winter, there were a few rays of light. The most dominant colour was actually pink…Hooray! I’m a real girly girl and pink is my favourite colour so I’m looking forward to indulging my love of pink and topping up my vast shoe collection this winter. The easiest and most stylish way to ease pink into your footwear wardrobe is on a trainer such as the Nike Post Match or the Adidas Kafira. I also have fallen in love with these fabulous boots from Goldigga and have promised myself I’ll treat myself to them after the baby is born – as a reward for getting through these last three weeks of pregnancy! They tick all the boxes – comfy, pink and a little bit quirky – what’s not to like?

For the man in your life pink is probably not an option. But that’s ok because there is plenty of exciting things out there for him too. A really popular trend this season is the all white trainer, a blank canvas without any colour on it whatsoever, and these by Jack Jones are perfect. They look really good with dark denim jeans and a crisp white t-shirt but make sure he doesn’t wear them to watch the kids play football or they’ll be grey before you know it!

The complete opposite of this trend is to have as much colour and pattern on your shoe as possible and the master of this is Ed Hardy. These pumps are super stylish and all those in the know will be really jealous that your man has Ed Hardy shoes on - it is the brand of the moment! The practical thing about these shoes as well is that not only do they look great but they are made of patent fabric so they should stay looking this great for longer.

A popular colour on the catwalk for men this autumn/winter was red and whilst most men would shy away from an all red shoe, this trainer from Lacoste means your man is showing he’s in tune with what’s in fashion without becoming a fashion victim. And I love the Velcro strap detailing to the top, it’s so different and easy to get off when he’s had a few pints!

And last bit not least, what should your man wear on those days when it’s a bit nippy and, dare I say it, rainy? When he’s got a jam packed day watching the kids play football a boot is always a useful thing to have and Rockport do do them so well. The Rockport Boundary is a classic example of a wear anywhere boot, and the great thing is it’s a limited edition too so every man and his dog won’t have the same shoe. Result.

So, there you have it, my top tips for the shoes to add to you and your man’s shoe wardrobe this winter. However there’s so many to choose from at Get The Label, so please let me know if there’s any you think I’ve missed. Oh and happy shopping!
