Winter Warmers

September 03, 2009 By: Louise Kilburn Category: Fashion

Well it looks like summer is over before it’s begun folks!  I can’t believe it’s September already - where has the year gone?! And we never had the long hot summer we were promised either!!!  What happened to the weather?!  But, am I depressed and discouraged? No? Why not? Because the shops are filling up with all the fantastic autumn/winter fashions - and its my favourite time of year!!  I’m a real cold weather girl! Don’t get me wrong - I love the sunshine as much as the next person but when it comes to fashion my heart belongs to jumpers, scarves, coats and boots!  I love to wrap up warm and get cosy!!

So, the new getthelabel.com catalogue dropped through my door yesterday, and I’ve been flicking through it with a pen in my hand, watching Mr Hectic Mum to be get more and more glum, the more numbers I note down!!  He is smiling again now though because i just reminded him that although it’s all branded clothing there’s up to 70% off, so my whole new winter wardrobe will cost less than usual!! and, if he’s good I might just treat him to something too!!

To make things easier for you to follow my advice this week, I’ve included the product codes after everything I’ve talked about - so if you go to the getthelabel.com site and type in the four digit code in the search box you’ll be able to see what I’m buying!  Or just click here to request a copy of the catalogue for yourself!! Honestly, hours of fun can be had circling all the things you want!!

So, whats on my list for this Autumn/Winter then?  First things first. it’s all about the coat!!  Now the designers sent all sorts of coats down the catwalks this season - which can be a bit confusing in that how do you know which trend to follow when there are so many?  On the other hand, you could look on it like I do - that it really gives you the scope to choose anything!!  On a practical level, as a new mum, I’m going to be doing a lot of walking so I’m looking for something warm and preferably waterproof if the weather at the moment is any indication as to how the rest of Autumn is going to go!!  I really like the Henleys Moses Coat((2106) with the gold embroidery - as i’m a bit of a magpie who likes bling!, and I love the colour of the Berghaus Elysian Jacket (2688) but I think i’m going to go for the Berghaus 2 in 1 Switch Jacket because i love the fact that i can wear the inner fleece on its own on those warmer autumn days that we sometimes get!

When I’m lounging around at home - which i guess I’ll be doing a lot of when the baby arrives! - i’m a real sweatpants and t-shirt kind of girl - and I’m spoilt for choice at the moment.  For t-shirts i quite like bright colours because when the weather is grey outside, a splash of pink or green makes me smile!!  Bench have a gorgeous purple t (2659) and Gio-Goi have one in cherry red (2335) that i am definitely going to purchase, and I think I might even give the Mckenzie green T a go as it is the colour of the season - Chanel have a nail polish in the same colour for the very trendy amongst you!!   As for the sweat pants, well the fleecier the better for me!!  On my must have list are the Kickers Leona sweat pants (1970) and the Adidas BL crown pants (846), and I may even splash out on a pair of Nike Studio Jersey pants (2565) because they look so comfy!!

If I do decide to venture out to the shops with baby, I’ll need some jeans and sweatshirts - easy to throw on but look stylish too! Jeans were also all over the catwalk for AW09 - Denim is back with a vengeance this year, so yet again anything goes!!  I’m thinking some dark indigo Maria Red 2V Jeans by Bench (2428) because I can wear them at night with a glam top too, and some grey slimleg Rock jeans by Henley (2908) as the colour is so different to the normal denim blue but you can still wear them with anything.  I might also treat myself to some Only Jeggings (1578) too - a mix of leggings and jeans for those of you who don’t know! - as they are the perfect alternative to either leggings or jeans and will hopefully expand and contract with my post baby body!!

Finally to the feet.  I have fallen in love with the Sketchers Boots in Black - they just look so comfy and will be perfect for the trek to the supermarket with my little bundle of joy!!  I’m also going to get some Adidas Originals Rod Lavers trainers (2809) as i’m planning on pushing the buggy around the park a lot to try and regain some sort of fitness levels after the last lazy nine months!  I’m also hankering after a pair of Silver Firetrap Streep Stiletto shoes - because I’m really looking forward to having a night out with Mr Hectic Mum to be - and eating and drinking all those things I’ve had to avoid whilst being pregnant!!  And, talking of nights out, I’m really struggling to pick just one of the dresses by Rare that getthelabel now stock.  Rare is the brand which is worn by one of my favourite girl groups “The Saturdays” - and I’m so excited that I can hopefully look as gorgeous as them!!  Might be best to wait until after the baby’s born to buy a dress though - need to get rid of this baby tummy first!, but I’m going to satisfy my glamour craving by buying the Side Zip Jersey Top in pink (2703).  Fits in with the 1980s trend that was still hot on the catwalk for AW09, fits over my bump, will fit after baby’s born - and its pink!! What more could a girl ask for?!!!

So, that’s my new wardrobe sorted - let me know what you think!! Check back next week as I’ll be letting you know what my must have purchases for Mr Hectic Mum are too - well it would be unfair to leave him out wouldn’t it?!!
