Tickled Pink
October for me is a month of halloween costumes, wrapping up warm, watching Strictly and eating casseroles and soups, but it is also a month where I try and dedicate some time to arrange a party or get-together of somesorts. Not just any get-together but one which will help raise some money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I don’t think i know anyone who isn’t affected by cancer, whether that be themselves, a friend or a member of their family and breast cancer is one strain which I have come across most often. I like to do my bit for charity and always try and donate here and there whenever a friend of mine is raising funds for charity.  For example, one of my friends ran The Great North Run last month for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and she managed to raise over £800 which was great!
Breakthrough Breast Cancer Month in October is where you can do your bit for the charity. It can be something as small as a little dinner party to something as big as a big cake sale, whatever size of event you arrange is great and as the saying goes ‘every little helps’.
So, after a bit of whaffling here are a few ideas of what you can do during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help you become tickled pink!
- Hold a pink themed dinner party and ask guests for a donation in return. Also get everyone to dress up and wear pink, men included! I’ve just bought this Rare dress for mine and Henleys have the perfect pale pink V-neck sweater for the men who don’t want to wear bright pink and don’t want to spend a fortune.
- Hold a tickled pink afternoon tea party complete with pink cupcakes and teapots and ask guests to donate in return and contribute with their baked goods.
- Get your child’s school involved. The school could hold a Tickled Pink non-uniform day where everyone has to wear pink and donate £1 or your child could sell pink ribbons for £1 a piece during break time. Theres a great School Resources section on the site which has assemblies, games and fundraising ideas for schools.
- Hold a Tickled Pink day at your office where everyone donates £1 minimum for wearing pink.
- Hold a staff rattle with tickets at £1/£2 a piece.
- Go onto the Breakthrough Breast Cancer site for tonnes more ideas along with downloadable invitations and posters

A gret reminder, Liz. You are right, most people know someone who has experienced breast cancer. A close friend of our is off to have a reconstuction in a couple of weeks after successfully beating the disease. That offers hope to many. But they still need funds!
