Bonfire Night safety
IÂ love Bonfire Night! Wrapping up warm (in my lovely new jacket!), playing with sparklers and stuffing my face with treacle toffee, whilst watching fireworks is my idea of heaven! What’s not to love? With 5th November nearly upon us it’s time for some safety tips in preparation.

Here are my top tips:
- Keep pets locked up inside. The noise of fireworks can give them quite a shock and upset them, or even cause them to run away.
- Don’t smoke around unlit fireworks.
- Keep hold of young children around bonfires and fireworks and teach them of the dangers of playing with fireworks.
- If you are setting off fireworks yourself, make sure to read the safety instructions. Never hold a lit firework and don’t go back to a firework once it has been lit.
- I love sparklers but there is some basic safety to understand - don’t let young children use them, always wear gloves when holding a sparkler and hold at arm’s length to your body.As soon as a sparkler is finished, put it hot end down into a bucket of water.
The safest thing you can do is enjoy an organised fireworks display. There’s no need to worry about all the safety aspects of lighting your own fireworks and you can enjoy yourself more. That’s what I’ll be doing anyway!
I got some of my tips from the Fireworks website and there are plenty more there. If you have any you think I should know about then let me know!
Enjoy!

Some great tips, many thanks!
