Back To The 80’s

The hot news from the Catwalks for Spring/Summer 2010 is that the 1980s trend looks set to run and run. It started last summer with a vengeance, ran on through winter and is now continuing on into this summer. So, how do you go about managing to look bang on trend without looking like you’re going to a fancy dress party?

Start off with a printed t-shirt or vest – this Gio Goi vest is perfect as it is features some diamante headphones – which were a major fashion accessory in the 80s! Other t-shirts that would suit this trend would be fluorescent coloured (pink, yellow, or green), slogans and anything with fringing!

Pale stonewashed denim was everywhere in the 80s and these Gio Goi Beau jeans are a great updated version of that – and they’re a fabulous shape. Wear them rolled up with trainers or flats, or long over some killer heels. Printed jeans and ripped jeans would also work well for this look. Harem trousers also originated in the 1980s – so feel free to dig these out of your wardrobe again!

Hi-top trainers were the footwear of the 1980s and they’re back for summer 2010, and the best thing is they also tie in with the current trend for sportswear too. This pair by Reebok have the all important lacing and Velcro detailing, and are a fabulous shade of fluorescent pink – which ticks all the boxes! Wear with legwarmers and a sloppy sweatshirt if you dare!

As far as jackets went in the 80s, the shorter the better. This Apple Bottom cropped jacket is bang on trend (both the 80s and denim trends), and the diamantes round the bottom add a touch of bling! The bit I love best about this jacket though is the lacing detail on the back – very Bonnie Tyler!!

This trend is all about bright colours and fun detailing, so if nothing I’ve picked here takes your fancy, head over to Get The Label and explore what else we’ve got to offer – you’re bound to find something you like.
