Get into shape the mummy way

November 06, 2009 By: Liz McNamara Category: Fun, Things to do

I’m not a big fan of gyms. Or running. I like the odd swim but I find that quite boring. I do bits and bobs here and there to keep in shape, and I’m quite lucky in that having Kian means I don’t always get to eat properly and I’m always on my feet, which also helps to keep the weight off!!I’m glad I’m not a celebrity having to worry about whipping my body back into shape in the blink of an eye - I read the other day that Nicole Richie had her all her baby weight in two week! What?!

there is now so much pressure from celebritries who drop the baby fat in a blink of an eye. For example I was reading the newspaper the other day and saw that Nicole Richie had shed all her baby weight just 2 weeks after giving birth!! What?!

I was recently talking to a friend about the things we do to keep in shape and how we lost our baby weight, so I thought I’d share a few of our ideas. I’m interested to hear what other hectic mums do and how you shed the baby weight. What do you have the time to fit in? What do you actually enjoy?

Bonfire Night safety

November 04, 2009 By: Liz McNamara Category: Education, Fun, Parenting, Things to do

I love Bonfire Night! Wrapping up warm (in my lovely new jacket!), playing with sparklers and stuffing my face with treacle toffee, whilst watching fireworks is my idea of heaven! What’s not to love? With 5th November nearly upon us it’s time for some safety tips in preparation.

Great - another half term!

October 28, 2009 By: Liz McNamara Category: Fun, Holidays, Things to do

So, what have you got planned for your kids this half term? The weather isn’t too bad oop North at the moment so I’m taking full advantage of that for my plan - to embrace the great outdoors! It can’t do me any harm and Kian loves being out in the sun - I just hope the weather holds out!

Stuff Your Doodle

October 20, 2009 By: Liz McNamara Category: Fun, Shopping, Things to do

Okay, so today I was supposed to be writing a post about something else, which is going to have to wait until next week now because I saw this over on Domestic Sluttery and HAD to tell you about it! [Breathe]

It’s the cutest little idea I’ve come across in a long time, really innovative and personal and it’s a perfect Christmas present for a whole range of ages. Its called Stuff Your Doodles and it’s a company based up in Scotland which had the idea that maybe, when you’ve doodled all over your note pad at work/home while on the phone to people with flowers, hearts and crazy characters, you might fancy turning them into cuddly toys! Better still, you can send in one of your children’s first drawings and they’ll transform them into real life making the memories last forever – let me hear you say “Ahhh!”

Tickled Pink

October 15, 2009 By: Liz McNamara Category: Fun, Things to do

October for me is a month of halloween costumes, wrapping up warm, watching Strictly and eating casseroles and soups, but it is also a month where I try and dedicate some time to arrange a party or get-together of somesorts. Not just any get-together but one which will help raise some money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I don’t think i know anyone who isn’t affected by cancer, whether that be themselves, a friend or a member of their family and breast cancer is one strain which I have come across most often. I like to do my bit for charity and always try and donate here and there whenever a friend of mine is raising funds for charity.  For example, one of my friends ran The Great North Run last month for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and she managed to raise over £800 which was great!

Breakthrough Breast Cancer Month in October is where you can do your bit for the charity. It can be something as small as a little dinner party to something as big as a big cake sale, whatever size of event you arrange is great and as the saying goes ‘every little helps’.

So, after a bit of whaffling here are a few ideas of what you can do during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help you become tickled pink!
